The Uses of Carbon Fiber Parts in Corvettes

For decades, the Chevrolet Corvette has competed successfully all over the world. Its performance was able to equal, if not surpass, that of many international and exotic race cars from Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy, effectively placing the American carmaker on the map for performance vehicles.

Chevrolet has run a factory team in the American Le Mans Series for the past few seasons, using two Corvette C6R models based on the road-going Corvette Z06 model and many of the parts are made up from the forged carbon fiber.

The racing car has had a lot of success, with podiums, first-place finishes, driver's championships, and overall victories. Now, the company has unveiled a new race car design based on the new Corvette Stingray C7, which has been featured in Motoring Exposure, Road and Track, and Automobile Magazine. Revised aerodynamics, updated bodywork, forged wheels, and a race-ready interior will all be included in the new C7R Corvette.

The new Corvette C7R Concept will feature an all-new lightweight simply carbon fiber body that is lighter than the standard model's production aluminum and plastic body panels. Carbon fiber can also have several high-strength advantages, as well as the ability to fix minor injuries quickly by the race team.

Carbon fiber handguards will also be used to create the latest aerodynamics for the race car design. On the front side, there be a front splitter and different side flicks to maximize downforce and reduce drag.

In comparison to the rear-mounted models, new side skirts will be placed between the front and rear forged wheels and will have a side-exit exhaust system on each side. To ensure that the rear forged wheel maintains traction at high speeds, a large adjustable spoiler, a new bumper, and a large diffuser will be mounted.

On the Carbon fiber Corvette parts C5 models, the chassis will be tuned for long-distance racing. The suspension system will be stiffened and improved with new aluminum and steel parts. To achieve the best center of gravity, the whole car will be much lower than current production models.

To save weight and boost protection, the entire factory interior will be stripped out. For easier reading and telemetry, the factory dashboard will be replaced with an all-digital monitor.
